What stresses me in life and how will scuba help or add to that stress Week #3

·         My body weight which is helped by the physical fitness

·         Mild claustrophobia which is helped by being underwater

·         Being alone which is helped by self development

·         This will help make me less scared of the ocean and going deep

·         That I might forget some of the sign language and small rules

·         My sisters kids add stress to my life because they never listen

·         Diving helps me get away from them and be in my own world

·         This lets me feel free and I can do something without anyone else around

·         All of the homework at school stresses me

·         Diving is a good physical activity that helps me diffuse anger and frustration

·         Diving is relaxing and helps me clear my mind and chill

·         School stresses me out most and diving helps me by learning to take things slowly

·         My older brother stresses me and diving will help because it is a nice calm quiet place

·         Diving won’t add to my stress, it will bring it down

·         I didn’t feel the time going by in scuba class today

·         Chemistry stresses me out the most, but seeing that it interacts a lot with diving, I might become a little more willing to learn more!

·         My family stresses me out because all the problems we have, but diving will help me get out of my house

·         My parents stress me out.. they always expect a lot from me

·         Work and school  stresses me out and I think that scuba diving can be a like a getaway from all the stress that I deal with daily and help me relax

·         Not enough time to do the things I want stresses me out

·         Scuba will help me out by encouraging me to plan ahead, like we were given a calendar and now I can plan my work around it

·         People making fun of me and judging me stresses me out and I think it will help me in so many ways like letting me know what I CAN do.

·         Other people getting on my nerves stresses me and makes me mad.. diving will help me because it will teach me to communicate better with others and have more patience.

·         Tight spaces stresses me out and hoping diving will make me less afraid of close spaces

What am I learning that will make me a better student in Week #2

·         This is making me a more comprehensive and insightful person

·         Gives me a sense  of responsibility and accomplishment

·         It is motivating me to be a better student so I can continue the fun it provides

·         It is making me want to know more about other subjects

·         Allows me to study something interesting

·         We can learn how to apply science to real life

·         It teaches us to consistently do our homework and study for quizzes to stay involved

·         I will know much more about the sea and what’s in it

·         It is teaching me to be more responsible and on-time for my classes

·         Learning to work as a team and hear other’s opinions

·         Improve my communications and be better everyday

·         I learned stuff I did not learn in school

·         Improves my self confidence

·         Learning to follow the rules

·         Learning self discipline, self control, and team work to get things done

·         This is teaching me to take care of the environment and study hard to help it

·         Motivates me to pass all my classes

·         Making me more focused and independent

·         Learning how to meet specific deadlines and be on time for important events

·         I am becoming educated on how to learn about my surroundings in the ocean

·         Teaching me that hard work pays off in the end

What excited our participants in Week #1

·         We got to learn how to setup scuba gear

·         We will do a lot of dives this year

·         We get our own  mask and stuff

·         It will require a bus or plane trip for our planned open water diving

·         I will be spending more time with the STARS Staff

·         We might go to one cool island this summer to dive

·         We will see tons of different species of fish

·         I am going to learn sign language

·         I might get a chance to capture a picture of a shark

·         The prospect of going to the ocean and encountering wildlife

·         I always wanted to see a shark up-close or even a whale

·         Putting equipment together was hard, but I did it!

·         We learned that we might see sharks

·         We will get a chance to swim deep in a lake or ocean

What scared our participants in Week #1

·         Not knowing if I setup my scuba gear up correctly

·         We might see or swim with sharks

·         Whether something bad eventually  happen to me in the water

·         Will I be able to dive right

·         Will my tank float away
